Miami-Dade County Hit and Run Hot Spots

March 27, 2017/0 Comments/in Car Accidents /by Mark Kaire

A vehicle collision of any kind is a dreadful event fraught with injury, expense, and lost time. Having to deal with vehicle repairs, doctors bills, police reports, and insurance adjusters is an awful burden to bear. It’s even worse when you don’t know who is responsible for your injuries or vehicle damage. New Miami-Dade County accident data reveals that hit aand runs occur far more often than we’d like to imagine.

In total,19,087 hit and run incidences occurred in Miami-Dade County in 2016 resulting in 560 injuries. In theory, a hit and run accident could occur anywhere at any given time. However, the latest data from Miami-Dade County Police suggests that there are certain areas of the county that attract hit and run accidents on a more frequent basis than others. Below are the most dangerous hit and run hot spots in Miami-Dade County.

Hit and Run Danger Zones

The following five locations are the biggest hit and run hot spots in all of Miami-Dade. Drivers traveling on these streets or intersections should remain vigilant while behind the wheel to reduce the probability of becoming a hit and run victim.

1) 7535 SW 88th St. | 23 Hit and Runs

7535 SW 88th St. may have ranked as the 5th most dangerous intersection in the county in terms of total car accidents, but it ranks number one in terms of hit and run accidents. As an entrance for Dadeland Mall, 88th Street likely cannot be avoided, but there is no doubt this is a treacherous road for drivers to traverse.

2) 4200 NW 21st St. | 15 Hit and Runs

Located on the property of Miami International Airport, 4200 NW 21st St. was the location of 15 hit and runs last year. The incidences serve as a reminder for pedestrians and drivers alike to remain vigilant on airport premises.

3) 7900 NW 27th Ave. | 15 Hit and Runs

7900 NW 27th Ave. not only ranks in the top five hit and run danger zones, it was also the labeled one of the most dangerous locations in Miami in 2016 with a total of 10 violent crimes. For your safety, it would be in your best interest to avoid 7900 NW 27th Ave. if possible.

4) SW 137th Ave. & SW 152nd St. | 15 Hit and Runs

The intersection of 137th Ave. & SW 152nd St. ranks as the 4th worst zone for hit and runs and the number one most dangerous intersection in terms of total accidents. In total there were 15 hit and run accidents located on the intersection last year.

5) NW 22nd Ave. & NW 79th St. | 13 Hit and Runs

As a large artery for Miami commerce, 79th Street receives a heavy amount of traffic on a daily basis. It’s likely for this reason that 79th Street possesses such an inherently high level of danger. The intersection of NW 22nd Ave. and NW 79th St. was the site of 13 hit and run accidents last year. Additionally, 79th St. was host to an whoppingl 67 violent crimes last year, making it one of the most dangerous streets in Miami.

What If I Become A Hit and Run Victim?

Drivers who flee accident scenes often do so believing they can do so without being caught. However, an investigation can yield evidence regarding the perpetrator’s identity. Victims or witnesses can assist in witness identification and evidence preservation. In certain cases, an investigation may also produce other parties who may hold partial responsibility for the accident; such as a local bartender for negligently serving too many drinks.

The most important thing you can do in the event of a hit and run incident is contact an experienced personal injury attorney. An attorney can work hand in hand with you and police investigators to build out your case and ensure you receive the injury compensation you rightly deserve.
