Strep Throat leads to death at Baptist Hospital

On Behalf of | Oct 21, 2011 | Medical Malpractice

Hours after being admitted to Baptist Hospital with a diagnosis of strep throat, Samantha Trebbi died. This is an unthinkable tragedy and my condolences go out to The Trebbi family.

In an article published in the Miami Herald on October 15, 2010, the Trebbi’s lawyer said the family was awaiting autopsy results to see whether anyone could have helped Samantha.

Baptist Hospital was quoted in the same article as saying that “the doctors and nurses responded appropriately to her condition, which at the time of her arrival was critical.”

Depending on the autopsy results, this case may result in a medical malpractice action against Baptist Hospital.

In a similar action I am currently representing the family of a 44 year old man that had Swine Flu. Baptist Hospital failed to take appropriate steps in diagnosing and treating the illness, and as a result my client has suffered irreversible brain damage, and has been on a ventilator for 1 year from the date of this article.
